Ingestre Park Golf Club welcomes all Juniors!

Golf is a great sport for juniors as it enforces life skills, develops friendships, extremely rewarding and most of all FUN!

We have a good spread of ages, from 6 to 18, and abilities, from beginners to nearly scratch, in the junior section so you are always bound to find a playing/practising partner to suit you.  The Club is very welcoming to Juniors and are always open to new ideas to make the section even more vibrant and exciting.

Our IPGC Juniors have regular lessons with Ben at weekends and use the Junior Golf Passport scheme to help track their progress from beginners to competent golfers. The weekend group lessons run in 6 week blocks (usually in term times) with themed golf camps in between. Girls Golf Rocks!

Well… Girls Golf really does ROCK! We have been involved with Girls Golf Rocks for a number of years and this provides the perfect platform for girls to get in to golf.

We have had a some fantastic Girls Golf taster session where 20+ girls have tried their hand at golf. We were exceptionally lucky to have Ladies European Tour player – Lucy Goddard pay us a visit and spent time with the girls, answering questions and hitting some shots. The girls loved it and were truly inspired.

Many of the girls have signed up to  follow on coaching & membership and are having a great time learning how to play golf.

Following 2019 GGR, we teamed up with Whittington Heath GC to take Girls Golf Rocks “on Tour”. We ran 2 GGR on Tour events, one at Ingestre Park GC and one at Whittington Heath GC, where girls from both clubs came together to learn new skills, make new friends and most of all … have fun. We are already planning GGR on Tour events for next year. So girls… if your not yet involved in golf, now is the time to join in the fun!

Ben is a great advocate of Junior golf at Ingestre, throughout the year he runs series of lessons. They take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings at a cost of £30 for 6 weeks and focus on all aspects of the game. These sessions are usually run during term times with fun Golf Camps taking place during the holidays. Sessions are adapted to all abilities with team games and challenges helping develops skills meaning complete beginners will be at ease.

Contact Ben in the Pro Shop (01889 270304/ben.smith0986@gmail.com) for friendly advice on how to get get involved. Individual coaching sessions are included in your membership fee giving you the opportunity to improve your golfing ability and also to learn the rules and etiquette of the game as well as a sound competitive attitude to your play.

Competitions

There are 18 hole competitions most Fridays of the school holidays, from Easter onwards, teeing off at 10.30. The prizes are awarded at the Junior presentation afternoon which takes place during the February half term holidays. Also, on most Saturday’s there are 9-hole ‘fun’ competitions at 3pm. All the 18-hole competitions count for handicap and some of the 9-hole competitions are also qualifying comps. If you do not have a handicap, all juniors can still join in and have a card marked which can contribute towards gaining a handicap.

Girls

Every Encouragement is given to our Juniors and as soon as they obtain a CONGU handicap, they are encouraged to enter ladies competitions.

How to gain a handicap

When you are course ready (Ben will let you know when you are) you need to put in cards of 54 holes. These can be in any combination, for example 3 -18 holes, 6 -9 holes or even. 1-18 hole and 4 -9 holes. When you have completed them pass the cards to either Jeff or Sharon and we will organise your handicap, be it a club or WHS depending upon your starting point. Your cards will need to be signed by another member, adult or another junior who already has a handicap.

Junior team

We are part of the North Staffs junior league which means there are 6 matches over the year, 3 at home and 3 away. Which provides you with the opportunity to play at different courses throughout the year.

JUNIOR HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

This is available to any person below the normal entry of 10 years old who wish to learn the game and in particular encourage those who have an obvious talent. We take into account factors such as age (below the normal entry of 10 years old), current height, and responsibility for their safety on and off the course.

HOW TO JOIN

This includes a Junior kit bag containing a voucher for 6 x golf lessons with our Pro, set of 3 golf balls, “Awesome Junior” bag tag and an Ingestre ball marker as well as a swipe card and Club Diary.
